ABOUT

CHOREOGRAPHY AND CREATIVE DIRECTION

Alison Faulk is an LA based choreographer and director who loves to create in all styles of dance and movement.  Her choreography career began when she and Leo Moctezuma choreographed PINK’s Funhouse Tour.  From there, Director Jamie King scooped her up to be the supervising choreographer for Britney Spears Femme Fatale World Tour and then Madonna’s MDNA World Tour.  She was a part of numerous TV performances, live shows, and music videos with them both.  In 2011, Channing Tatum asked  Alison to choreograph the film Magic Mike directed by Steven Soderberg.  She called long time friends Teresa Espinosa and Luke Broadlick to partner with her on the film- the team ATL was born.  They proceeded to choreograph Magic Mike, Magic Mike XXL and helped Channing create and choreograph Magic Mike Live in Las Vegas, London, Berlin and Australia.

ATL collaborated on Channing Tatum’s Jimmy Kimmel dance opening, several UK Magic Mike Live promotions and specials such as Britain’s Got Talent, BBC’s Red Nose Comic Relief, and several Ellen special performances .  They’ve also brought their signature Magic Mike moves to the TV shows This is Us, The Neighborhood and the film 50 Shades of Black.  Other international MML promos include Germany’s Next Top Model, Das Supertalent, Luke TV, Sydney Morning Show and more.

Alison has also worked on numerous occasions with Jennifer Lopez for her live shows and TV appearances.  Other notable credits include multiple episodes of The Mindy Project, The Voice, Lip Sync Battle, The Babysitter, and music videos and live performances for the Lonely Island.  Alison also enjoys coaching actors in dance and helps them tailor specific movement for their upcoming roles.

Alison and Leo choreographed the award winning contemporary number for the character “Mac” on” It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”.   Additionally, they have worked on tours with artists Ricky Martin, Joslin Tsai, and music videos and live performances for Victoria Justice.  You can also see more of their partner work in the films Book Club and Naked.

Alison is now diving into the world of directing film.  In 2019 she wrote and directed her first short film Daydream, which took place in London.  It will be released in fall 2020.  She continues to develop new projects with her partners, and is excited to be involved with expanding the Magic Mike Worldwide brand.

DANCE

Thanks so much for visiting my website!  It’s been a long time coming! I’m so happy to share a bit more about my life and performing career before my journey led me to choreography.

I grew up in South Florida and was dancing, moving, climbing, and flipping from the time I could walk.  My parents are musicians, so I was always around music and my earliest memories are of watching my Dad play trumpet on stage.  My parents put me in dance and gymnastics when I was 3, and that was it- I was hooked. I trained at a dance studio where we studied jazz, tap, ballet, and jazz-funk -we went to all the competitions and conventions! To say it was my life was an understatement- I was a full on competition kid!   At 13 I won a scholarship to train for the summer in LA at Tremaine Dance Center.  Well, that just cemented my love for dance and my certainty that this was what I wanted to spend my life doing.  Six months after I graduated high school (I saved some money to move) my Dad drove me to LA (and then he flew home)  and I began a year long scholarship at Tremaine Dance Center.  I was exposed to and mentored by LA’s leading teachers and choreographers.  It was a game changer!

During this time I learned so much.  I was introduced to street dance, developed a huge love of partnering, and continued absorbing as much as possible. After scholarship I began working as a dancer in film, television, tours, and music videos.  I had so many wonderful teachers from that time - a select few are Marguerite Derricks, Michael Rooney, Wade Robson, Jackie Sleight, Barry Lather, Eddie Garcia, Bradley Rapier, Doug Caldwell, Joe Tremaine, Jerry Evans, and Sallie Whalen.

All throughout this time, a bunch of us were getting together and doing Groovaloo shows all around LA.  I was one of the original members, and this was really my LA family.  I learned so much about hip hop foundation, freestyle, and was just around the best of the best street dancers. It was a super special time.

Additionally, we formed the all- female crew The Beat Freaks!  These ladies are my sisters, and we share our love and passion for dance and hip hop.  Our crew was on Season 2 of America’s Best Dance Crew (I wasn’t able to compete on the show because I was on tour with PINK).  We continue to advocate for women in hip hop and we keep getting down- even if it’s just in the garage☺

Thankfully, several choreographers took me under their wing, and brought me in to help assist them on projects through the years. This really was a privilege, and helped shape my understanding of choreography and the different approaches one can take.
